Biology is the study of living things—plants, animals, and microbes—at a variety of levels and from different perspectives. All Biology majors should begin to take chemistry, math, and biology as soon as possible.
The B.S. degree program in biology is designed for students preparing for graduate work or other research work in industry or government laboratories, as well as for medical, dental, and other professional schools. Although B.S. degree programs are challenging, they provide serious and talented students with the depth and breadth in biology, as well as in other sciences, needed for careers in scientific research.
The B.A. degree program in biology trains students in the major subject areas of biology while remaining the most flexible of all biology degrees offered. Minimal chemistry and mathematics requirements allow students the space to add a second major, such as computer science, chemistry, psychology, environmental studies, Spanish or another language, or business. The B.A. program provides excellent preparation for careers in business, law, scientific writing, and education, as well as for medical, dental, and other professional schools.
