About this major:
The Department of English offers courses in literary history, major authors, ethnic and global literature, creative and professional writing, and language. Courses often examine the relationships between literature and other disciplines such as film studies, gender studies, history, philosophy, and psychology.
Majors may select courses in literature, language, and writing that match their individual interests and goals. Majors with interests in creative or public and professional forms of writing may pursue one of the concentrations in Creative Writing, Culture Studies, or Public and Professional Writing.
The department also offers an English interdepartmental major with African American African Diaspora Studies. Ask an advisor for more information.
